Fall Protection Planning (FPP)

Classroom Course

This one-day course is designed to provide participants with information regarding legislated responsibilities and requirements and the various fall protection systems available in industry. An effective Fall Protection Plan will assist in creating a safe work environment for workers who perform their daily job-related activities at heights or depths.

Course topics include:

  • legislative requirements for fall protection
  • assessing and controlling fall hazards
  • generic fall protection systems
  • basic requirements of an effective site-specific Fall Protection Plan
  • integrating a Fall Protection Plan into an existing Health & Safety Management System
  • active vs. passive fall protection systems
  • fall arrest vs. travel restraint systems
  • clearance calculations
  • safety harness inspection process


This course has a written exam component. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% for course certification.
