Classroom Course

This one-day course is designed to assist employers, small and large, in dealing with the realities of present day substance abuse in the workplace. Course material is structured around the Construction Owners Association of Alberta's "Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace" Alcohol and Drug Guidelines and Work Rule.

Course topics include:

  • the impact of alcohol and drugs on safety in the construction industry
  • the benefits of responding to substance abuse
  • developing an effective Alcohol, Drugs & Safety Program
  • formal policies and procedures
  • recognizing and dealing effectively with drug and alcohol issues in the workplace
  • Duty to Accommodate (use vs. abuse)
  • pre-employment screenings
  • supervisor roles and responsibilities
  • worker communication




To request a refund or transfer, notification must be received two (2) business days prior to scheduled course date or payment will be forfeited.

Using the student entrance please check the board/TV screen and report to your assigned classroom. Check-in starts at 7:30 am. The course begins at 8:00 am.
Government-issued photo ID is required for course attendance.
