Hazard Management

Classroom Course

This one-day course has been designed to help participants understand the components and application of a Hazard Management System.  This course will review methods for hazard and risk assessment in the context of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation requirements.

Course topics include:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Rights and responsibilities of Employers and Workers
  • Hazard Assessment Tools (Formal and Site-specific Hazard Assessments)
  • Applying and monitoring of controls
  • Continuous improvement
  • Administration of the Work Site Workbook


Completion of Principles of Health and Safety Management (PHSM)™ is recommended.


This course has a written exam component. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% for course certification.
